World Heritage Discovery Tour: 2025 American Youth Summer Camp, Sponsored by Young Envoys Scholarship is Coming soon

“Chinese Cultural Heritage Exploration Journey” —— The 2025 U.S. Youth Summer Camp in China will be held in Hangzhou and Beijing from June 10 to June 23, 2025. The camp will last for 14 days, with an estimated group of 41 participants.

The summer camp is themed around “Explore Chinese Cultural Heritage” and will use the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal as a link to showcase to American youth the rich cultural heritage resources and other cultural landscapes of Beijing and Hangzhou. This will enhance their experiential understanding of the unique charm and historical value of Chinese culture and Grand Canal culture as well. The activities of the summer camp will be structured around a framework of “Lecture-Study-Tour,” and will be carried out through cultural lectures, field trips, interactive experiences, and exchanges between Chinese and foreign students:

1. Cultural Lectures: experts with rich teaching experience in the field of international Chinese education, or experts with relevant historical and cultural backgrounds at the associate professor level or above, will be invited to give lectures or provide on-site explanations. Courses on world heritage and Chinese culture will be offered, including topics such as the cultural heritage of Beijing’s central axis, stories of the Grand Canal, and cultural relic restoration classes, to enhance the cultural literacy of American youth in Chinese culture.

2. Field Trips: Focusing on the themes of “World Heritage” and the “Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal,” participants will visit cultural attractions such as the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal Museum in both Hangzhou and Beijing. In Beijing, with the “central axis” as a sub-theme, field investigations will be designed for several world heritage sites and cultural districts, including the Palace Museum, Tiananmen Square, Qianmen Dashilar, and the Temple of Heaven. In Hangzhou, field visits will be designed around the characteristics of the water towns, including West Lake, the Liangzhu Cultural Site, the Tea Museum, and Nanxun Ancient Town.

3. Interactive Experiences: Through activities such as city walks, boat rides on West Lake, and pottery and cultural relic restoration, students will learn about and understand Chinese culture in a fun and engaging way, thereby developing an appreciation and love for it.

4. Exchanges between Chinese and Foreign Students: During the itineraries in Hangzhou and Beijing, exchange activities between Chinese and foreign students will be arranged. American youth will truly enter the classrooms of Chinese middle school students and participate in activities such as “attending a class together” to gain a real understanding and experience of the characteristics of Chinese education and to build friendships between the youth of the two countries.

This summer camp is essentially a “deep cultural experience” and “interactive cultural learning” of “world cultural heritages.” Youth represent the future. This camp aims to promote mutual learning between civilizations. By engaging in language and cultural studies as well as on-site experiences, the young participants will appreciate the unique charm of Chinese culture, enhance their understanding of China’s long history and brilliant civilization, and foster friendly exchanges between the people of China and the United States.
